Despite all our anxieties about the weather the sun shone on Saturday morning and the stiff breeze just added to the fun of getting the Gazebos up!
We were delighted with the number of families who came along and a great time was had by all. The “Welly Hurling” was a great hit with the children and kept them busy all morning. When they were taking a rest from that they planted up the raised beds with a selection of veg plants under the direction of Garry Olson or with Chris Frankland’s help practised the art of log stacking.
While the children were busy the adults were able to concentrate on the serious business of swopping plants and seeds, gardening experience and much else.
As always the home made cakes went down very well and we were able to have hot spiced apple juice using the swedish candles supplied by Chris to heat it.
We were very grateful to Primrose Cottage Nursery for bringing along a selection of plants to sell and giving advice on gardening matters.
Thank you to everyone who contributed cakes, plants, seeds, time, effort, and to all who came to support us in making the morning so enjoyable.
